Manusは東京で初のアジアミートアップを開催し、共同創設者のタオ・チャン氏が1時間にわたり、世界初の汎用AIエージェントの開発過程とビジョンについて洞察を共有しました。
このイベントでは、チームの以前のプロジェクト（MonicaというChrome拡張機能とAIブラウザプロジェクト）から現在の自律型AIアシスタントへのManusの進化が紹介されました。チャン氏はManusの「Less Structure, More Intelligence（より少ない構造、より多くの知性）」という哲学と、GAIAベンチマークでOpenAIのAssistantを約10%上回るパフォーマンス、専門エージェントが扱うユースケースの76%をカバーできるという印象的な指標について説明しました。
チャン氏は「AHPU（Agentic Hours Per User）」という新しい指標を紹介しました。これはユーザーの消費時間ではなくエージェントの作業時間を測定するものです。また、特に採用が進んでいる日本でのプレゼンスを強化するため、2025年4月に東京オフィスを開設する計画を発表しました。日本語のDiscordチャンネルは最もアクティブなコミュニティとなっています。
イベントはManusフェロープログラムの発表で締めくくられ、レスポンス時間の向上や、ユーザーが進行中のプロジェクトに対して単一のスレッドを維持できるようにする新しい「継承」機能など、最近のプラットフォームの改善点が紹介されました。

Event Recap
Manus held its first-ever Asian meetup in Tokyo, Japan, featuring an hour-long presentation by co-founder Tao Cheung who shared insights into the development journey and vision behind the world's first general-purpose AI agent.
The event highlighted Manus's evolution from the team's previous projects (Monica Chrome extension and an AI browser project) to its current form as an autonomous AI assistant. Cheung described Manus's "Less Structure, More Intelligence" philosophy and impressive metrics, including outperforming OpenAI's Assistant by approximately 10% on the GAIA benchmark and covering 76% of use cases typically handled by specialized agents.
Cheung introduced a new metric called "AHPU (Agentic Hours Per User)" which measures agent working time rather than user consumption time, and announced plans to open a Tokyo office in April 2025, strengthening Manus's presence in Japan where it has seen particularly strong adoption with the Japanese Discord channel being the most active community.
The event concluded with the announcement of a Manus Fellow Program and showcased recent platform improvements, including enhanced response times and a new "inheritance" feature that allows for automatic task continuation, enabling users to maintain a single thread for ongoing projects.
